The Wrong Partner Will Cost You the Right Product

We often meet entrepreneurs — especially those just starting out — who come in with a great idea and a lot of passion.

They say:
“Hey, it’s a great idea, right? You believe in it? So let’s partner — you get equity, I get development.”

That’s where things can go wrong.

You don’t want your critical service provider to also be your business partner.
And if you do — you’re making a mistake.

Why?
Because your supplier now has a built-in conflict of interest.
You’ll always wonder:
“Did they make that decision because it was best for the product — or best for themselves?”
And that uncertainty undermines everything.

Trust is the foundation of product development.
It’s a long and sometimes difficult journey, and if you’re not working with people you trust, you won’t reach the finish line.

In fact, for a CEO, it’s often easier to get more budget than it is to get rid of the wrong partner.

So don’t choose a partner because they’re offering something for free.
Choose them because they’re the right person — experienced, aligned, and committed.

That’s how successful products are built.
